Parupu Payasam
Ingredients:
- Green Gram Dhal – 1 cup
- Jaggery powdered – 1 cup
- Coconut Milk – ½ cup
- Cardamom powder – ½ teaspoon
- Cashew Nuts – 5 or 6
- Ghee – 1 teaspoon
Method:
- Roast the green gram dhal till it become light brown.
- Pressure cook it for two to three whistles with 2 cups of water.
- In a thick bottom vessel heat half a cup of water and add broken jaggery and melt it .Once jaggery is added switch off the flame.
- Now when all the jaggery pieces are dissolved filter it with a tea strainer to remove fine dust.
- Again heat the jaggery water.When it starts boiling, add the cooked dhal and mash it well.
- Stir for a while. Add coconut milk and allow to cook on a low flame.
- Add fried cashew nuts the payasam.
- Add cardamom powder and mix well and Serve hot!
- Also tastes Yumm when refrigerated.
