Parupu Payasam



Parupu Payasam




Ingredients:
  • Green Gram Dhal – 1 cup
  • Jaggery powdered – 1 cup
  • Coconut Milk – ½ cup
  • Cardamom powder – ½ teaspoon
  • Cashew Nuts – 5 or 6
  • Ghee – 1 teaspoon   
Method: 
  1. Roast the green gram dhal till it become light brown. 
  2. Pressure cook it for two to three whistles with 2 cups of water.
  3. In a thick bottom vessel heat half a cup of water and add broken jaggery and melt it .Once jaggery is added switch off the flame.
  4. Now when all the jaggery pieces are dissolved filter it with a tea strainer to remove fine dust.
  5. Again heat the jaggery water.When it starts boiling, add the cooked dhal and  mash it well. 
  6. Stir for a while. Add coconut milk and allow to cook on a low flame. 
  7. Add fried cashew nuts the payasam. 
  8. Add cardamom powder and mix well and Serve hot!
  9. Also tastes Yumm when refrigerated.
